worldwide MINI sales for May 2016

Global MINI sales are up 3.6% for the month and 5.2% for the year despite continued disappointing sales in the US.

MINI sales also grew in May with a total of 29,864 vehicles delivered worldwide, an increase of 3.6% on the same month last year. Year-to-date, MINI sales are up 5.2% to total 136,617 in the first five months. The brand’s main growth drivers in May were the MINI Convertible (3,604 / +116.7%) and the MINI Clubman, which was delivered to a total of 4,681 customers around the world last month.

For May, MINI USA reported 4,595 automobiles sold, a decrease of 21.2 percent from the 5,833 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA reported a total of 20,230 automobiles sold, a decrease of 16.0 percent from 24,086 automobiles sold in the first five months of 2015.

For April, MINI USA reported 4,796 automobiles sold, a decrease of 12.4 percent from the 5,476 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA reported a total of 15,635 automobiles sold, a decrease of 14.3 percent from 18,253 automobiles sold in the first four months of 2015.

MINI Pre-Owned Vehicles

  • Sales of MINI Certified Pre-Owned set an April record with 1,094 vehicles, up 14.6 percent over April 2015.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales also set an April record with 2,537 cars, an increase of 15.2 percent from April 2015.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales year-to-date were 9,063, a 14.0 percent increase from the first four months of 2015.

Global MINI sales are up 6.6% for the month and 5.4% for the year despite disappointing sales in the US.

MINI sales were higher in March 2016 than in any previous single month in the brand’s history. A total of 39,061 units were delivered to customers worldwide, an increase of 6.6% compared with the same month last year. In the first quarter of 2016, MINI sales also achieved a new record high with 78,311 units delivered, an increase of 5.4% on last year. “Customers around the world are responding to the attractive new models we have in our line-up, as is proven by our record sales,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, BMW AG Management Board member responsible for MINI, BMW Motorrad and Rolls-Royce. “The recently launched MINI Clubman in particular is attracting new customers, with a total of over 12,000 sold so far this year,” he added.

MINI USA sales for the month are down again (-18.3%).  Sales for 2016 are down 15.2%.

For March, MINI USA reported 4,762 automobiles sold, a decrease of 18.3 percent from the 5,829 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA reported a total of 10,839 automobiles sold, a decrease of 15.2 percent from 12,777 automobiles sold in the first three months of 2015.

MINI Pre-Owned Vehicles

  • Sales of MINI NEXT (certified pre-owned) set a March record with 1,090 vehicles, up 15.8 percent over March 2015.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales also set a March record with 2,442 cars, an increase of 16.1 percent from March 2015.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales year-to-date were 6,526, a 13.5 percent increase from the first three months of 2015.

Global MINI sales are up slightly for the month and up 4.1% for the year.

MINI sales increased 4.1% in the first two months of the year, with a total of 39,237 vehicles delivered to customers. One significant growth driver was the MINI 5 door: with a total of 11,606 units sold, sales are up 29.5% compared with the same period last year. So far this year, the recently launched MINI Clubman has been delivered to a total of 5,603 customers around the world.

MINI USA sales for February 2016

MINI USA sales for the month dropped by almost a quarter from last year.  Sales for 2016 are down 12.5%.

For February, MINI USA reports 2,839 automobiles sold, a decrease of 23.7 percent from the 3,720 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA sales are 6,077 vehicles, a 12.5 percent decrease from the same period last year.

  • Sales of MINI NEXT (certified pre-owned) set a record with 1,046 vehicles, up 33.2 percent over February
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales also set a record with 2,231 cars, an increase of 22.1 percent from February 2015.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales year-to-date were 4,084, an 11.9 percent increase from the first two months of 2015.

MINI starts 2016 strong with its best January sales ever.

Following record sales in 2015, MINI achieved its best-ever January with a total of 18,867 vehicles delivered to customers worldwide (+8.6%). The MINI 5 door was one of the brand’s main growth drivers, with sales of that model increasing 49.2% (5,783). The new MINI Clubman’s strong start continued into January with a total of 2,300 units delivered worldwide.

  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales for January were 1,853 cars, an increase of 1.9 percent from January 2015.

Global MINI sales were down 1.1% for December.  However, MINI achieved its highest-ever sales figure in 2015.

MINI achieved a new all-time annual sales record in 2015 with a total of 338,466 vehicles delivered to customers worldwide, an increase of 12.0% compared with the previous year. A total of 127,194 MINI 3 doors were sold around the world in 2015 (+0.2%) while 94,788 customers took delivery of a MINI 5 door. The new MINI Clubman, which went on sale in October, was delivered to 8,003 customers.

 

Peter Schwarzenbauer, BMW AG board member responsible for MINI, BMW Motorrad and Rolls-Royce commented: “We are delighted that our fresh new model range has achieved MINI’s best-ever sales result. The MINI 3 door is as popular as ever and the MINI 5 door has attracted many new customers to the brand. I am sure the new MINI Cabrio, due on the market in March, will provide further momentum going forward into 2016. Our success last year shows that the MINI is heading in the right direction.”
