In early 2007, MINI USA launched the Hammer & Coop advertising campaign developed by Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners. The campaign centered on Web episodes of a series starring Jim Turtledove as “Hammer” and a MINI Cooper S as “Coop”. Pictured is the poster ad for the series.

In February 2007, MINI USA launched the Hammer & Coop advertising campaign developed by Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners. The campaign centered on Web episodes of a series starring Jim Turtledove as “Hammer” and a MINI Cooper S as “Coop”. This ad insert was made to look like their publicity photo.

BRAWN IS BACK.

Hammer is a lovable tough guy with looks that kill and a karate punch that isn’t too shabby either. Coop is a more powerful 2007 MINI with ball bearings of steel. Together this unlikely duo is on the run, fighting for justice, looking for answers and reestablishing the belief in the power of a guy and a car. This is Hammer & Coop. This is the next classic car/buddy TV show. Get ready to kick some asphalt.

collectible of the day: Hammer and Coop iron-on ad

Three years ago today, MINI USA launched the Hammer & Coop online episodes as part of a large advertising campaign for the second generation MINI. Ad agency Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners also created a series of Hammer & Coop print ads including a movie poster, magazine fashion spread, magazine supplement, fake magazine article, autographed celebrity photo, workout poster, and iron-on patch ad (pictured).

The iron-on patch can be used to create a Hammer & Coop t-shirt. The ad reads:

HAMMER & COOP KNOW HOW TO LAY IT ALL ON THE LINE.
It’s not hard when you’ve got a more powerful turbocharged engine under your bonnet, and the heart of a lion in your chest. Sure, they may take the occasional uncalculated risk—but only because they have the brawn to back it up. Just goes to show you there’s nothing you can’t do with a new MINI by your side. Probably wouldn’t hurt to have one on your shirt, too.

In February 2007, MINI USA launched the Hammer & Coop advertising campaign developed by Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners. In addition to print ads, a MySpace profile, and a six-episode video series, MINI produced a metal Hammer & Coop lunchbox. Often the lunchbox came with a wig and mustache. An air-freshener was also produced.
