Grand-AM Lime Rock Park Results

Despite the optimism due to a good combination of MINI and track, the RSR Motorsports MINIs could only achieve 28th and 32nd place in ST class.

Sarah Cattaneo and VJ Mirzayan placed 28th in class with a best lap of 1:00.116.

Dickey Riegel, Randy Smalley, and Owen Trinkler placed 32nd in class with a best lap of 59.443.

The 198 MINI was withdrawn from the race.

The Italian Job (2003) opened on this day seven years ago.  In addition to a few human celebrities, the action film starred three MINIs: an Indi Blue MINI Cooper, a Chili Red MINI Cooper S, and a Pepper White MINI Cooper.

During the week before the official opening, MINI owners in major cities were given the chance to preview the movie including a huge premiere party in Los Angeles (see photo below).  Some movie promotional items given out at that time included the previously-featured The Italian Job antenna balls and the three stickers shown here.

RSR Motorsports: Lime Rock is made for MINIs

RSR Motorsports MINI 197The GRAND-AM season continues this weekend at Lime Rock in Connecticut and RSR Motorsports has high hopes to get back on the podium.  The team is confident and thinks the MINIs have an advantage there.  Says driver Sarah Canttaneo:

“Lime Rock is probably the best track on the schedule for us. It’s all about cornering and the balance of the car, and the MINIs are perfect in those aspects.”

MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper ‘S’ is an unusual “book”. On the bright yellow cover it states “THIS BOOK CONTAINS ROAD TESTS AND FEATURES ON ALL MINI COOPER MODELS”.  Despite the MINI on the cover, the first third of the book actually contains articles on the classic Mini.

Published by Unique Motor Books, this soft-cover book has 72 photocopied pages and is really a compilation of old articles from the UK magazines “Autocar”, “Autocourse”, and “Sporting Motorist” published between 1963 and 2002.

This book is only recommended if you are a serious Mini or MINI book collector.

In the first few years of the MINI in the US, MINI USA gave new owners the MINI UNWRAPPED CD with information about the vehicles.  In keeping with current technology, MINI USA now gives new owners a gift including a USB memory stick and a fold-out guide on THE IDIOSYNCRASIES OF YOUR NEW MINI [MODEL].

There are three different types: for the MINI Hardtop, MINI Convertible, or MINI Clubman which is the one shown here.

The 256 MB USB memory stick, black with a white MINI logo on one side, contains 33 short videos on “Things You Should Know About Your MINI”.  The same content can be found on the webpage About Your MINI Videos.

This 44 page, square-backed booklet contains accessories and motoring gear for the MINI and includes a poster and price sheet.
