The Mini Magazine app is free to download.  Individual digital issues are $4.99 or you can get three subscription lengths: 90 days for $12.99, 180 days for $21.99, or 365 days for $39.99.  Right now the September 2011 issue is free to celebrate the launch.

The MiniWorld Magazine app costs $5.99 and includes one issue of your choice.  Individual issues are $4.99 and there is also a 13 issues subscription for $36.99.

Grassroots Motorsports: MINI Cooper Buyer’s Guide

The December 2011 issue of Grassroots Motorosports December 2011Grassroots Motorsports magazine is out now and it contains a complete MINI Cooper buyer’s guide.  The article begins with a brief history of BMW’s acquisition of Mini to create the MINI brand.  It covers the early years of the MINI in the US.  One table lists the year-by-year changes from 2002 to 2006.

Getting to the actual buyer’s guide, the advice covers the first-generation Cooper (R50) and Cooper S (R53) models.  The author enlists the help of MINI aftermarket vendors including Sneed’s Speed Shop, Mini Mania, and Way Motor Works.  For example, here’s Way Hunsucker on engine mounts:

Hunsucker recommends examining the engine mounts on any used MINI. “The passenger-side mounts on all years go bad. The later ones, anything mid-’04 and on, has basically a metal can, and the fluid will leak out—that’s how you tell if it’s bad. The earlier ones are rubber but still fluid-filled. They get short as they age and that tears the other mounts.” Polyurethane replacements are available.

MINI has released the complete MINI model year pricing, including the forthcoming MINI Roadster.  Each model has three versions: Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works, except for the MINI Countryman which has a Cooper S ALL4 pricing shown instead.  Also note: All John Cooper Works models except the JCW Clubman include the JCW Aerokit standard.  Cosmopolitan floormats are now standard on all MINIs.

All prices below include a $700 destination and handling charge.

MINI Motoring app by MINI Financial Services

MINI Motoring app

MINI Financial Services has released an app called “MINI Motoring”.  It is available for both Android and Apple devices.  From MINI USA News:

The all-new “MINI MOTORING” mobile app provides the ability for users to discover the best roads in more than 50 countries, as well as rank, comment and share those roads via Facebook, email or other GPS devices. MINI Financial Services’ customers enjoying the app also gain exclusive access to “gamified” features, including receiving rewards by completing certain actions in the app or by utilizing various financial account services.

After a simple login, MINI Financial Services customers can start earning points through usage (e.g. posting new roads, commenting on other roads) or by signing up for electronic invoicing or paperless statements. The more points received, the more rewards can be unlocked. Currently, the rewards are quality MINI images which can be used as backgrounds on phones, desktop images or to share with friends. Plans for future rewards include winning promotional items or other MINI-centric prizes.

MINI USA had previously produced a MINI model year 2012 brochure, but it did not include the new MINI Coupe.  Now there is a pocket-sized MINI family brochure with all five current models: Hardtop, Convertible, Clubman, Countryman, and Coupe.  The stapled, 24 page brochure gives each model (plus JCW) its own slogan:

worldwide MINI sales for October 2011

From BMW Group PressClub USA:

The MINI brand achieved a new sales record for October. Volumes rose 16.2% to 23,839 units (prev. yr. 20,523). In the year to the end of October, 232,056 units (prev. yr. 188,275/+23.3%) were sold. The MINI Countryman continued to report strong sales with 8,645 vehicles sold last month (prev. yr. 3,525/+145.2%).

The newest and fifth member of the MINI family, the MINI Coupé also got off to an excellent start in October. Robertson: “When we launched the new MINI ten years ago, we created the premium small-car segment. Since then, we’ve been busy growing the MINI family. New additions to the line-up have propelled MINI to new sales records. And now with the new MINI Coupé and MINI Roadster, we fully expect MINI’s momentum to continue.”

Earlier this week we featured the MINI Roadster video: Saturday in Istanbul.  Today we have seven print ads for the forthcoming MINI Roadster, some which have the Roadster share the spotlight with its “accomplice” (according to MINI) the MINI Coupe.  Print ads should start showing up in magazines in January 2012.  The ad slogans are:

MINI USA sales for October 2011

MINI USA released its October 2011 sales.  An interesting figure here is the 414 MINI Coupe vehicles sold in the initial month since launch on October 1st.

MINI Brand Sales

MINI USA reported sales of 5,415 automobiles in October.  The October 2011 sales are up 37.1% from the 3,950 sold in October 2010.  The MINI Countryman, on sale since December 2010, had its best month ever in October with 2,012 units.

Year-to-date, MINI sales in the U.S. are up 22.1% on volume of 47,050 compared to 38,538 in the first ten months of 2010.
