In a recent email from MINI USA promoting the MINI Countryman, the last section dropped this piece of information about MINI Takes the States 2012:

More details will be available in late January, but we’ve been getting lots of questions about it so we wanted to let everyone know that we are indeed gearing up for another one of our epic cross-country road rallies. Based on that statement, it appears that MTTS 2012 will have a similar structure to MTTS 2006: a coast-to-coast rally.
