collectible of the day: RSR Motorsports hat

RSR Motorsports hat (front)

RSR Motorsports hat (side)

Yesterday we featured the Nuzzo Motorsports poster.  But after that team left MINI, the GRAND-AM Cup series void was filled by RSR Motorsports.  One of RSR Motorsports’ sponsors is MINI USA.

Today we have the RSR Motorsports hat.  The black cap has an embroidered RSR Motorsports logo on the front.  On the right side is an embroidered MINI logo in silver.  The back has the logo of Cruise America RV Rental & Sales, the major team sponsor.

This hat was given to the Library of Motoring by team owner Randy Smalley.  Thanks, Randy!

Earlier today at the Salt Lake City 200, the final race of the 2010 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series, RSR Motorsports took 2nd, 13th, and 14th places with their three MINI Cooper S racers.

Making the podium were Sarah Cattaneo and Owen Trinkler with the No. 198 MINI Cooper S placing 2nd.

BJ Zacharias came in 13th place in the No. 196 MINI. Team owner Randy Smalley wasn’t listed in the results, so it’s unclear whether he co-drove.

VJ Mirzayan and Dicky Riegel placed 14th in the No. 197 MINI.

This race will be broadcast on SPEED at 9:00pm ET on Saturday, September 18th.

RSR Motorsports goes for three in a row

RSR Motorsports MINIsRSR Motorsports will end the GRAND-AM season later today as they try for three class wins in a row.  As we reported, RSR recently won back-to-back at New Jersey and Quebec.  For the Salt Lake City 200 at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah, the team is mixing it up:

RSR Motorsports will have three MINI Cooper S entries at Miller. Sarah Cattaneo will join Trinkler in the defending No. 198 MINI. “Sarah has done great in qualifying and her stints, especially considering it’s her first full season in the series,” says Trinkler, who put RSR Motorsports on the pole at Miller in 2008. “I’m excited to see what she can do in her opening stint.”

Mirzayan will co-drive the No. 197 RSR Motorsports MINI Cooper S with Dicky Riegel, who has driven select rounds with the team this year. Mirzayan is quick to note how the team has developed since the season opener at Daytona International Speedway.

Smalley will co-drive with longtime RSR Motorsports driver BJ Zacharias in the No. 196 MINI Cooper S.
